Wandering Praha

Today I just wandered about aimlessly, soaking up the city. I walked over the ancient stone Charles Bridge, hopped on and off trams, took lots of pictures, and ate street food. Brodska is a deep-fried potato-and-onion patty, about the size of a plate. Very nice when server hot on a cold day. Trdlinka is a strip of dough wrapped around a hot iron shaft and sprinkled with cinnamon or almonds - sort of a cinnamon roll, but coiled instead of rolled.

There's an island in the river that was once used for shooting practice. High school students still do archery practice in a stone building on the island. I went onto the island via stairs going down the side of the pillar of a bridge, and went to a restaurant attached to the archery building. For about $12, I has two macchiattos, a salad made from a sliced tomato and a very nice Mozzarella-style cheese, and a marinated pork steak. I'm not a fan of pork, but it seems to be the main specialty of the country, so I thought I should try it. It was actually rather good.
