Today I hopped on the subway here and just rode around. I got off at various stations and took pictures. They've worked hard to make each subway station visually distinctive.
I went above ground partway through the system, and found that I was far out in the suburbs. The subway system here is incredibly far-reaching.
It was chilly, so I sat in a nice cafe and had machiattos and cream pastries, reading while the wind blew outside.
Dinner was in a basement restaurant near the river, with brick barrel vaulted ceilings and stone walls. I had sirloin steak medallions in pepper gravy. The steak had been stewed until it was tender before it was grilled, so it was incredibly soft and juicy. It was served with a big round ball of breadcrumb dressing.
I'll be visiting my relatives in Nova Scotia in December, but after that I think I might visit New Orleans again.
