When you don't feel fresh down there

I have a nice pair of steel-toed insulated work boots. They are great for winter - waterproof, great traction, and warm. However, if you wear them every day walking to work and back, they can build up odour.

I found a good fix. When it's -15 C or less, I just leave my boots outside on the doorstep overnight, bringing them in when I wake up. At first, they're solid like a block of wood, and CLONK when you bump them against something. When they thaw out, the odour is magically gone, and stays away for several days. Cold, dry air must kill the bacteria that causes the unpleasantness.
