Squats: 120 lbs (but with poor control). On the third set of 5 reps, the bar rolled down and flattened my triceps and biceps (painful!), so I stopped.
Bench press: 115 lbs. Good control, was able to complete 5 sets of 5 reps.
Dead lift: 100 kilograms (220 lbs)! Five sets of 5 reps.
After my first set of deadlifts, the endorphin rush hit again.
I felt so powerful.
My body felt firm and solid, like a purposeful machine.
My vision seemed brighter, sharper, and with stronger contrast.
A feeling of supreme confidence washed over me.
I felt like I could do anything.
Even my sweat smelled different, as if it was alkaline.
I vomited, and it didn't even taste awful.
I didn't get a rush with the remaining four sets, but just was dizzy with blood thumping through my ears like bad dance music.
Afterwards, I stretched and contorted myself in the steam room, trying to make my muscles get back in their right spots. Someone came in, so I readjusted my towel which had fallen off, and kept on stretching. I then left the steam room and headed for the showers. The guy who came in left the steam room too, even though he had just arrived. He dropped his towel, went into a shower stall, looked back at me, and started showering with the door open. I showered in another stall, dressed, and left.
On the way home, I suddenly wondered if there was any meaning to the open door.
