At work last night, at 9:30 PM, I shut down my computer and prepared to leave after a long day. Then workers from the factory floor came to report a problem, and I needed to log on to the network fix it. While I waited for my computer to start up again, I tidied my desk, and wiped off all the coffee stains. My office area looked much neater.
I used a day of vacation to take today off, and slept and did chores instead of going to work.
My co-workers saw my clean desk this morning, and their first thought was that I had rage-quit and cleaned out my belongings. Mark broke my locked desk drawer open when trying to claim my office supplies. Eugene from Facilities will fix it when I come in next week with my key.
But I guess that's a sign that my workspace is too messy, when cleanliness makes people think I'm no longer working there.
