Or rather, the dog lunged about randomly, dragging us on the end of the leash. It wasn't very tall, but it was wide, with huge thick layers of muscle. A Rottweiler/Grizzly hybrid, apparently. Friendly, but when it wanted to run and pee on a distant vertical object, any leashed humans came stumbling after it.
We asked my landlord, and he said he didn't recognize it, so we started walking to another area.
Then the tenant living immediately next to my landlord came out, and identified it as his.
So, a happy ending!
Also educational. spiral_meter keeps telling awesome stories about how he gets to play with doggies all day. I was thinking it might be nice to have a dog of my own. But after getting stinking doggy fur and sticky doggy slobber all over me, and nearly getting mistaken for a tree that needed peeing on, I am now a confirmed cat person.
